Hello! This is Ross on behalf of expertvillage.com. Switches, wonderful products. This is your normal light switch have the nice label access on, this is off. Let us do it, this is a contact and it makes a connection or opens. Next the connection opens it is connected. These two poles were tied together then you have closed circuit, instead of an open circuit. Closed circuit may turn on, this is on, that is a closed circuit, current can flow again this is your light switch. Now this switch is a startle switch and its single pull, single throw, double throw would be if you have another connection over here. So when I flip it one way these two are connected and when I put the other way it is off or if you have another connection that would be connected. Here is some, these are magnetic reed switches connections… look at that… What happens is there is a switch in here that is a magnet. Here is a magnet for this one and this is a switch, it's a reed switch two pieces of metal there. What happens when you bring it close they connect. If your really quiet you can hear it. A smaller type of switch, switches are a great way to build the circuit and allow you turn it off or turn it on without removing power going, cutting the wire or something like that. So they are an integral part of any design.
