Hi! I’m Yvette Parrish. Thanks for joining me at Expert Village. Today, I’m going to show you how to apply makeup properly, professionally, and the use of brushes. I think it may be a habit for me now, but I do think that doing it on the top line is a better start. I think it is a little bit more organized in a way: you get to see how your whole eye shadow in your eye is looking if you apply the top. Now I did a little bit of black on the bottom, and I am going back to that original brown that I used for her eyebrows, remember, and I am going to take a little bit of that brown… and I am going to just put it in her corners. Just for a little bit of something special, I am going to take a hunter green, and I am going to apply this in the corners just to give her some umph. So it really depends what is easier for you—if you like a pencil, if you like to apply it with a brush, if you like a liquid—but know that a liquid is the most drama of all types of eyeliner. A pencil is the most common. If you have a nice soft pencil, you can take your brush and you can grab the color on the brush and apply it that way; and I really recommend brushes because you have a lot of control. When you are applying makeup, when you have a brush and when you have a pencil, you notice you do not have that much control. The pencil is kind of fat, and you can kind of make a mess, and they can be all over the place. You are not going to get a really, really pretty sharp line with the pencil, no matter how you sharpen it. So you can always take your brush, grab the color this way, and you can apply the pencil like that. So if you can get in the habit of using brushes it will be very beneficial and it will be a very good experience for your model, it will be a beautiful professional look.
