The very last thing to say about poker tournaments is that you should go for the gold. Once that bubble has burst, there's know reason to hold back. There's no reason to play for the next pay level. You know what, I want you to go for the top three places. Let's say there's thirty people left, and your goal is to make the final table. There's thirty people left, everybody that's left has cashed, well don't hang out and say I want to make the top twenty because that's the next pay level. You know what, say hey I've cashed and I want to make the top three. I want to hit that final table in the top three with chips stack and I want to go on and finish in the top three and win. Well, you know what, this is what I recommend. Let's say you're in lay position, everyone's folded around, you're on the button and you peep down at queen jack. There is actually a poker book written by a world champion, who I'm going to go ahead and not name, that says you should fold hands like this in this situation. Or fold hands like a pair of sixes. But, you're one of the shorter stacks at your table. You know, why think about crawling to the next highest amount of pay out when you can put your chips in, have some fold equity and possibly get lucky and double up and make a deep run. Because really can you name the person who finished thirtieth in this year's world series of poker main event? I bet you can name the person who finished first.
