Ingredients for Rye Bread
My name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to make rye bread. Alright, with regards to ingredients there's not a whole lot that you need. But, the one thing you'll need is a lot of time. It takes about three hours to get this done from start to finish. Let's see, the first thing I have here, I have one cup of warm water, I have one teaspoon of granulated sugar, I have one tablespoon of active dry yeast, I've got one and a half cups of buttermilk, I have one quarter of a cup or 1/2 stick of melted butter. You want to make sure it's melted but not hot because hot will mess the recipe up. I have a quarter cup of brown sugar. I have one tablespoon of salt. I have two cups of rye flour, and I have four to six cups of, this is just plain old unbleached baking flour. This isn't all purpose flour though. This is actually unbleached baking flour, you want to make sure you use this. All purpose tends to not make very good bread, it' all purpose not baking flour. The reason I say four to six cups is because depending on the humidity, depending on how your yeast activates you may need a little more or a little bit less. Moving right along let's see what equipment we'll need today.
