Applying Mascara for Wedding Day Makeup

Welcome to Expert Village. This is Kim Brown. In this segment, we are going to be putting mascara on the eye. This is going to be waterproof mascara, so you always want to have an extra mascara wand along with you to clean up any messes and I will show you how to do that when we’re done. If it is your own mascara, you can use it right out of the tube. If you are at the salon and doing someone’s makeup, then you always want to have a couple of mascara wands, so that you can reapply. You are going to want to take up some of the excess, so there is less chance of a mishap if you have a little cleaner mascara wand. If you have an eye facing away from you when you are applying someone’s mascara, there is less chance of them blinking and having it bother them and I just like to go back and forth. I do the bottom lash first; a little bit of back and forth motion. She has got really nice long lashes. So don’t blink, keep looking away. Right away I am going to go in and clean that. Especially when you are working with waterproof mascara, you want to be extra careful. It is a little harder to get off and separate; sometimes they want to clump together a little bit, so this clean wand also helps. I like to have the bride close her eye and then I lift upon the eye a little bit and that just keeps it away from the skin and I can get in with my wand go on the top of the lashes rolling outwards and then coming from underneath in a back and forth motion. If you are feeling like you are not getting enough length on your lashes from your first application, then reapply. For someone who has really blond lashes, you can always go in with the fine eyeliner brush and get some mascara on it and then brush it right along the lash line at the lashes and that will fill in any blond spots that are too hard to reach with your mascara wand. To get your waterproof mascara off at the end of the night, you will want to use a makeup remover. Look at those lashes; they are huge, and beautiful.
