Guide to Video Formats on Playstation 3

Hello my name is Tony Ramirez from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village these are the optional uses of a PlayStation 3. Not just playing video games, this is a lot cooler. Video formats on a PlayStation 3. This by far is my favorite part of the PlayStation 3. I do a lot of things in high definition video using a HDV camcorder. And one of the hardest things to do with your camcorder is you shoot this wonderful footage how do you get it to play in HD on your TV. Well since blue ray burners are way too expensive or non existent right now. The best way to do it is either play from your camera or find another way to play it, this is a great way to play it. If you have for instance adobe premier or final cut pro or some other video editing software you can actually export your HD footage into an mpeg2 format. This is great because all you do is after it's exported you save it to a memory card or another external drive and you plug it up to your PlayStation 3 and you can import it and play it in true high definition. So as you can see here I have one this one's called little woman, this was for a contest that I shot a while back. I'll show you a few seconds of it. just a, of course it's got the bars on here because it is set up for standard definition but on a high definition TV the picture will be shown you know in true high def. So like I said this is how it goes. Let me see let me go back again. So pretty much just to explain a little bit more with the formats, with the PlayStation 3 you can play the formats of, of course blue ray which is Sony?s high definition DVD. Of course standard DVD?s. Mpeg1, mpeg2 which can be an HD compression, h.264 which is a QuickTime format, mpeg4 and AVC. Now if you've got videos onto your, on your computer that you want to change over, compress them just compress them in any of these formats you can import them into your PlayStation 3 and watch them on your beautiful TV. And that's the basic video formats for PlayStation 3.
