Those "ands" on the four, on the way back, to connect the chords when we do that. Now this is another way of doing it, with the two dotted quarter notes. D dotted, F dotted, and then a regular quarter note for D. D, F, D, E, A, C sharp, going back to D. This is the first way, is with the eighth notes involved, then, with just dotted quarter notes. Three, four... okay. Practicing with the metronome is good. It's really important that you listen to lots of other bassists playing Latin lines. Playing it with the drums, the drums are really what makes it happen. And so you really want to hear that. These are just some examples of the kinds or rhythms you'll be playing, and the kind of chord progression you might encounter.
