The 5th note in the G flat major scale is D flat. Let's look at D flat on the staff. Here it is the 5th note. On the flute D flat is played simply with the pinkie key in the right hand. This is how it sounds. Let's look at the fingerings again on the flute. It is just the pinkie key. Moving back down starting from G flat the 1st note of the scale let's review. G flat up a whole step to A flat, up a whole step to B flat, up a half step to C flat and up a whole step to D flat. It is important to take note that D flat tends to go a higher pitch then what it sounds. So make sure you bring your pitch down so it matches the difference in the whole step pattern. This is what I mean. Instead of having it a high airy sound which is often found on the flute for this note is important to keep it a darker and lower sound. Let's listen to the scale from the beginning ending on D flat. D flat 5th note.
