Saying "I Don't Understand Japanese" in Japanese

I don't understand Japanese. Okay, here it goes, nihongo wakari masen, very good. One more time, nihongo wakari masen. Nihongo means Japanese, wakari means to understand, masen denies it. So, I don't understand Japanese. People think that a lot of people especially, big cities like Tokyo, people think oh everybody speaks English but actually not too many people speak English in Japan. And remember Japanese people are very shy, so if you talk to strangers on the street even if they understand probably they don't answer. So, I don't think people would talk to you, just a stranger would talk to you, but just in case like hotel or the stores you might need to use this. Nihongo wakari masen.
