CASEY CORMIER: Okay. So we just transcribed a melodic line that we heard [SINGS THEN PLAYS MELODY], find it in the place where we want it to play it right. Now the important thing now though is if we just write, as we did in tablature form, we do not have any rhythm so we might come back and play it and read [PLAYS MELODY IN WRONG RHYTHM] that's not the same line as [PLAYS MELODY LINE IN CORRECT RHYTHM] that has the same notes. So first thing to do is develop your pulse, just tap your foot while you hum those lines or play it [PLAYS MELODY]. When you find a good pattern one, two, three, four [PLAYS AND SINGS MELODY]. Well let's see how many beats we have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, but it's probably in 4/4 so we only have two measures [SINGS MELODY] let's slow it down [SINGS MELODY]. We know that this first beat of the next measure is [PLAYS MELODY] this 9th fret okay, the second time we see it. So we can first of all put a dividing line here, we can say 4/4 here also of rhythm if we want because we can transfer everything like this up to or down to a bass clef later on but for now it is better to do shorthand and we're even going to do the rhythm on top okay.
