CASEY CORMIER: So far I've taught you a lot of techniques, such as scales and rhythmic functions, lots of melodies, just different ways of playing that basically you really can figure a lot of things out on your own hopefully. But the important thing is even if you're figuring something out, are you figuring it out in the right way? Are you putting it in the right form? Is it stressing your hand out too much? Are there easier ways of playing it? These are questions that you want to answer for yourself. There's important ways of transcribing. So say you have a goodie and you' were able to pick this out of the air [SINGS MELODY]. And we can apply that to the bass so, [HUMS AND PLAYS G], it's a G, [HUMS AND PLAYS MELODY]. So we play G, B, B flat, G, [PLAYS AND SINGS MELODY]. Okay, those are the only notes we have. We can play them here [PLAYS MELODY] or we can play them on the 5th fret of the D string [PLAYS MELODY]. See I thought maybe we could play them up here and that's a lot of movement just to go from here to the B. So let's try to keep it to be more comfortable like that.
