CASEY CORMIER: Here is a popular slide line. So, we start with our first finger playing the G, play on the A, and then when we hit the A you automatically slide to the B, it's as if we are forced to go. Now, we are in a new position. See, we can use the slide to change positions, now we're playing in the 5th and 7th of our first fingers here, do the same patterns starting here, 5th fret of the A string, 7th slide straight to 9. Now our first finger is up here, it started here. If we wanted to we can slide back down. So, we can use our slides to get from one point of the neck to the other in a graceful fashion even if it has to be a little bit further. So try using slides to get from place one place to the other on the bass.
