Playing Reggae Dub on Bass Guitar

CASEY CORMIER: One popular genre in which the bass guitar player's rhythmic qualities really shine is the reggae or dub genres. They're pretty similar, "Dub" meaning a little more space to the reggae beat, but reggae usually will involve guitars or keyboards playing on the two and four, so one, two, three, four, one, two is where the emphasis is by those guitars. However, the bass player will still be emphasizing the one and the three, and they'll be playing in between. So here's a popular bass line, you may have heard this from the reggae style. One, two, three, four [PLAYS REGGAE BASS LINE]. So you notice I'm aligning the chords G major, C major, and D major. But I'm doing so in the fashion with the metronome. Very laid back. Very simple.
