How to Use the Diaphragm for Vocal Exercises

Hi! My name is Cass Naumann and I am here on behalf of expertvillage.com. I am talking about exercising the voice. In this segment we are particularly focussing on the diaphragm and how to exercise it in the biology of the diaphragm. Diaphragm sits up nice and high right above the ribs and as you take a deep breath as you inhale pushing not just the chest but all the way through the abdomen and diaphragm pushes down all the way down here and as you exhale it rises back up. So if you look into a mirror from the side think about the diaphragm sitting here underneath the rib cage and as you inhale it expands and as you exhale it caves back in. Just try it a few times, you inhale it expands, exhale it caves in. You want to feel the air push all the way through the kidneys expanding the lower back all the way through the abdomen exhale and it caves back in, deep breath… inhale expanding all the way down all the way full and inhale all the way out and while you do this still keeping your posture correct, shoulders back everything nice and tall getting as much air as you can as you inhale all the way full and exhale all the way in.
