Hi this is David Jackel on behalf of Expert Village and I'm here to talk to you about finding the "Mountain Restroom" when you?re up there in the Appalachian Mountains. Now if you need to go to the bathroom and your up there in the mountains there are two major concerns the first one is comfort and the next one is hygiene. To avoid an awkward encounter if you have to go to the bathroom, move away from the trail. Your doing yourself a favor and your doing other people a favor as well. When you?re doing whatever it is you have to do, keep an eye on your surroundings. Make sure there are no snakes below you, no poison ivy. It sounds funny, but if it happens to you it's not going to be very funny and it's really go to ruin your trip, as well as, maybe for the next couple of weeks. So keep your eyes open and use common sense. Stay away from water because that water maybe someone else's drinking water down the line. Ideally, you should be digging a hole in the ground at least half a foot to two feet deep and you should carry toilet paper with you or sanitary wipes. When you?re done, cover the hole completely and then put rocks on top of it and scatter leaves and everything so the area is like it was when you got there. If you?re traveling in a group, choose designated areas for each person so that nobody runs into somebody else at the wrong time. This person get that tree, that person gets that rock. Put them far enough away so that people can't see each other and it well be a more pleasant experience for everyone
