Going on to the next the 5th we have a minor 3rd. We have 3 half steps A to B flat 1, 2, and 3; that is a minor 3rd. When we put these together, we have a chord F major chord. Since you can not play all those 3 notes at the same time on the flute and many other instruments, we have what is called a arpeggio. An arpeggio is when the chord is broken up to play each note at a time. I will now play the F major arpeggio. This is the 1 chord from the first note in the scale F. We also have a minor chord. This chord starts on the 2nd note of the major scale and goes up using note from the scale. In this case, it starts on G, we go up to B flat, D, back to G again this is a minor chord. Let's listen to hear how the minor chord sounds like played together. You can tell the difference because the minor chord has a minor 3rd 1st three half steps and then a major 3rd on top 4 half steps which makes it minor. Let's listen to the minor arpeggio.
