How to Play the 5th Note in a D Major Flute Scale

The 5th note in the D major scale is A. Let's look at A on the staff. A, A. To play a A on the flute we have the 1st, 2nd, and thumb key on the left hand. We also have the pinkie key on the right hand. This is how it sounds. Let's review the fingers on the flute 1,2, thumb on left hand and pinkie key on the right hand. Starting from the beginning on our scale D to E whole step. E to F sharp whole step. F sharp to G half step. G to A whole step. Notice the facility in the keys as you lift one finger as each note rises in pitch. Let's listen. A is our 5th note.
