International Relations Etiquette
I am Elena Brouwer, International Etiquette Center in Hollywood, Florida. You can find us on the web at etiquettecenter.com and to continue with our business etiquette, we are now going into the international arena which can be tricky at times, let’s observe. A: Hi! Bill Smith. B: Good Morning. Saskia Schumacher A: Saskia… How do you pronounce it again? B: Saskia Schumacher A: Saskia Schumacher B: Correct A: Did I get that right? B: Yes you did. A: That is a lovely name. B: Thank you. When we meet people from other nationalities, many times it is hard for us to pronounce the name but it is important to get it right. We can ask them again for it. Sometimes even to spell it for us because the point is we want to be able to call that person by the right name and at introduction that's the time. You do not want to wait until 10 minutes into the conservation and when you try to think of the name it does not come to you that would be too late to be asking for that name again.
