The 5th note in the A major scale is E. Let's look at E in the staff 5th note E. To play it on the flute E is played with the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and thumb in the left hand. In the right hand the 1st, 2nd and pinkie key. This is how it sounds. Let's review the fingerings on the flute we have 1st, 2nd, 3rd and thumb on the left hand. 1st, 2nd pinkie on the right hand. Let's go back to the beginning A to B whole step, B to C sharp whole step, C sharp to D half step, and D to E is a whole step. Notice the change in the fingerings as we have been going up.
