The 4th note in the A major scale is D. Let's look at D in the staff 4th note D. On the flute D is played with the 2nd, 3rd and the thumb in the left hand. It is played 1st, 2nd, and 3rd on the right hand. This is how it sounds. Let's review the fingerings on the flute 2,3, thumb left hand, 1,2,3, in the right hand. Let's look at the scale from the beginning we have A to B whole step, B to C sharp whole step and C sharp to D the last note is a half step. Quickly reviewing back to our scale we see C sharp to D. D is a natural note this is because the distance between C sharp and D is only a half step so it fits the pattern of the major scale. Let's listen to this scale from the beginning. D is the 4th note.
