How to Use Nailheads in Scrapbooks
Hi! This is Stephanie. I'm here to talk about adding nail heads and studs to your layout. Nail heads and studs are kind of things that you might use on clothing. You see them sometimes on your jean pockets or things like that. They're very sharp. They have a lot of little pokey things that come through. They look kind of like they're brads but they're not. You can use just a Popsicle stick if you want to apply. They're a little bit more difficult. You just take and you want to stick it through. You want to make sure that you don't have your finger because it will cut your finger because they're so sharp. You can just take your Popsicle stick and push them down. You can see it is more difficult with a Popsicle stick, but it's possible. You just get them like that and you make sure they're all pushed completely flat and that they're not sharp. You won't have to worry about them damaging you or your pages behind where you're using them. It's down kind of like a brad. You can also get a special tool in the area where you get those. It looks kind of like this. It has a little hook on the back and you just stick the hook through and pull it towards you. That just pulls the nail head shut in much the same way as you did with the Popsicle stick. You don't need this tool. It just makes it easier. Usually when I get them all down, I just use it and press it down to make sure they're all down. Then you have a kind of cool look, a nice metal look. These are also paintable just like any other metal that you use. They come in lots of different pretty styles. You can sometimes get a colored style. Just look in your sewing section. Your beading section is a place where you might find nail heads and studs.
