Non-Traditional Items for Scrapbook: Slide Mounts
Hi! This is Stephanie. I'm here to talk about adding slide mounts to your scrap books. You can go ahead and buy the expensive kind of slide mounts that they might sell for scrap booking that are already embellished. These are slide mounts that have ribbon, ric rac, and things like that attached to them. It's not necessary to go through all that trouble. You can go to a photo supply store and pick up a box of slide mounts that are like 10 cents each. They come in various different colors. You can decorate them in the same way as you would. They're just little plastic items, so they're very thin. They don't add a lot of thickness to your scrap book pages. I found these at the dump. They're old metal slide mounts that were used. It'll make a neat little frame. They have slide mounts that are plastic that you'd fold together. There's plastic inside and you can put a little picture or something inside. This is another paper slide mount that you would just fold together. Sometimes you get the glass parts of slides. You can decorate these. You can stay on ink or markers to decorate them and put little things on to make your own little slide mount embellishment. Here's an example of some way I use slide mounts. I had some really small pictures that someone took that were horrible and I didn't even think I'd be able to use them in the scrap book, but now it looks like I meant for them to be that small because I use the slide mount as a frame. I just used some acrylic paint to kind of distress them a little. I used a rub on right there to add H2O to show that he's in the water. I just made nice little frames. I put some ric rac through the back and just used them as a neat little frame embellishment. Check your photo stores and see what you can find, and I'm sure you'll get some neat slide mount ideas.
