RYAN LARSON: So now we're going to show you the chords on the E string, I'm going to show you how they're actually played first and then we'll show you the in fret markings or the frets, we'll give you the tab pretty much. So here's D at the 10th fret and our first chord, our major chord is 10, skip this, the second string and then you have 9, 9, 10, 10, very pretty, jazzy chord. You can add this 11 in there too so it's 10, 9, 11, 10. Then our minor chord is 10, 8, 10, all the way up, 10, 8, 10, 10, 10, 10. And our 7th chord is you bar 10 and you play 10, 12, 10, 11, 10, and that's your 7th chord so we're going to show you how that's written down. So our first chord right here, D major, I wrote down 10, 12, skip that string, 11, 12, 12 and you can write that too but we're going to write--the one I showed you was 10, and you skip this string, 9, 9, 10. And you can actually play the ninth fret here too-why don't I put it on there. So you have 10, 9, 9, 9, 10 then our minor chord was 10, 8, 10, 10, 10, 10. Again, make sure you write in all these information home and then you have 10, 12, 10, 11, 10, 10. And again, when you're playing these chords, we don't use a pick, it's all finger picking and you want to use your thumb on the low note and the other notes, you pick individually each finger and it's almost like a one hand clap motion. Again, you're going to have to practice this on your own time. That's a nice simple method taking to get it under your fingers and as soon as you get it, you can start running through all these different chords.
