SCOTT BROWDER: Now we're going to talk about hitting some offensive shots in the middle of a point. So let's say you've served, he's returned your shot, you've hit a shot, he's returned that stroke with something that's not exactly an offensive shot, so you want to be able to capitalize on either a shorter ball or a ball that's higher up off the table, and what you want to do, it's not maybe not high enough for you to slam it because you don't have the skill level at this point to be able to hit a slam from a real low position like the pro's would. So you want to be able to come up through the shot and be able to swing towards the net so that you can put some real pace on the ball, also you have to impart some top spin to get to fall on the end of the table. So we're going to go ahead and hit a couple of shots, so basically what you're going to do is you're going to come up through the shot with your low to high stroke pattern and come from a ready position, nice and low to the table, come up and come through the ball and drive, try to drive the ball deep into the table, if not hitting the ball short and keep--trying to keep it fairly low through the net with imparting--imparting some top spin in the process. Now those are almost a smash type of a shot but obviously if you got a ball that's high enough, you're going to be able to slam with the top spin. But the idea is--again is to put enough speed on the ball so that you can hopefully end the point quickly and this way if driving the ball deep and coming out through with a lower to high stroke pattern and putting some top spin on it and going finishing towards in that, we'll get you to that point where you can get a quick easy point.
