Business Card Etiquette
I am Elena Brouwer, International Etiquette Center in Hollywood, Florida. You can find us on the web at etiquettecenter.com. To continue when we meet with another colleague or even for an interview, there is a certain way to finish out the conversation if you want to do it professionally, let’s observe. A: Let me find you a business card as we didn’t have the proper introduction. B: Sure… A: Thank you. The lady had to dig through her handbag for a business card, probably not going to be very clean. Secondly, she threw it on the desk. It should always be handed to the person with the writing showing and when she got the business card from the gentleman, she folded it and threw in her handbag. The correct thing would be to look at it and carefully put in your handbag if that’s the case, but not to do it in such a careless manner. We must remember that a business card is part of something that that person has given you and you need to treat it carefully.
