How to Play G Major Guitar Chords on the Low E String

RYAN LARSON: Now we're going to go over our first three chords as they fall on the low E string and we're going to play them on G major so we're start with our fourth as our root every time. So our first chord is our G major chord and it goes 4--and you can skip that 6 right now, it's 4 then 5, 6, 6 on the top strings. So if you want to write this down at home and I'm going to show you right now as it falls on the key--on the guitar fret board. So if we have 4, then we have 5, 6, 6 and that other 6 I wrote in there is to get the 5th here on the second string. This might take you a little while so don't really worry about it right now, you can even, you can play it this way, you have 4 and then on the tops strings, 5, 6, 6. Then we have our G minor chord, very easy, 4, 2, 4, 4, 4 all the way barred up so if we look at my fingers, right here we have, 4, 2, 4, 4, 4. Nice minor chord. And then our 7th chord is we bar 4 and then on these three strings, the second, third and fourth string, we play 2--or 4, 5, 4 and that's notated right here. Again, you want to make sure you're writing these chords at home, there's nine of them, we're going through one by one, 4, 4, 5, 4, notice how we don't play this string, it's on a void note. You can also play the sixth fret on the second string here and you get this sound. You can hear how that wants to move to our second string with voicings we're going to go over in just a minute.
