TONY RAMIREZ: Hi, my name is Tony Ramirez and this is the high-definition movies and players. All right, so something else you're going to see on the boxes a lot is this up-conversion. There's two types of up-conversions right now and there's the standard-definition, you know, your regular DVD player up-conversion, which will up-convert the signal to an HD signal. Or with these HD DVD and Blu-ray players, they will up-convert an older signal, like from a standard DVD, up to a semi-resolution of high-definition. So you got this massive collection of old DVDs, not old DVDs, but, you know, just regular standard-definition. Using up-conversion on your DVD player or HD DVD player or Blu-ray player, like I said, what it'll do is it'll get the 10, excuse me, the 480p, 480 progressive, and it'll digitally enhance the picture to the highest resolution of your TV. So for instance, if this TV is only capable of 720p, it will up-convert these 480p's up to 720p; if you have a high definition TV with 1080p, the same thing. It'll up-convert these 480p's up to 1080p. So this is great way--and there's only one way, excuse me, two connectors but one way to do this. Again, all these HD DVDs, Blu-ray and up-conversion DVD players will either have a DVI cable, which we'll explain in a different chapter, or an HDMI cable. They easily plug in the back of your TV, of course, it'll send the digital signal and make it that much clearer. So if you want to enhance your regular DVD's, go ahead with the up-conversion.
