Set the Gap for Motorcycle Spark Plugs

Hi my name is Jesse Grahm from Tampa, FL. on behalf of Expert Village. This how to change a spark plug on a motorcycle. Before replacing a spark plug you want to check the gap. It is a big misconception that the spark plugs come from the factory pre-gapped. So, whenever you get a new spark plug you want to check the gap. Use a tool, this ring that has measurements. You check your owner?s manual to see how far a gap you need. Now bigger the gap the more power is required to bridge the gap. So, if you want a faster bike you would use a more powerful ignition coil. Which would give your spark plug more power which enables you to bridge the gap? So the smaller the gap on a stock bike the better. Now if you do not have access to your factory service manual most swing arms on factory bikes will have information that you need such as the gap, the type of spark plug
