Cutting Out the Top of a Computer Desk

Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip, we'll be cutting out our top. If we take a look at our cutting diagram, our top pieces are going to be coming out of the top corners. Now you might remember that one of our tops is the cabinetry grade plywood and we don't want our legs to be at that same material. So we are going to have to maybe use some scrap material. But for this cut, we are going to cut our plywood all the way around and we are going to trim off the sides of it. I'm first going to be using the panel saw to cut off my end so that it is a little more manageable when I take it over to the table saw. Next, I set my table saw to twenty-eight and a half inches. Now my first top piece has been cut. I'm going to go ahead and cut my oak top piece using the same setup of the table saw and the panel saw. This is going to give me the same exact size and I'm going to wait on cutting my scrap pieces until I start assembling it a little bit.
