Hi, my name is Joe Wiles with the Rock and Roll Conservatory. On behalf of Expert Village I'm going to teach you how to play all of those five chords that we just learned without the use of our index finger. It's really important because later on in the method we've got to use our index finger to barre across the strings, so we got to be able to play every one of those chords without our index finger. Here's the C chord without your index finger. Leaving your index finger free we're going to put our middle finger on the first fret of the B string. Then we're going to put our ring finger on the second fret of the D string. And then our pinky on the third fret of the A string. This forms the C chord without using our index finger. This is kind of tough because at first our pinkies are hard to use. I suggest you just word through it and make sure that each string rings out clearly. And right now I'm going to say, I want you to start visualizing this not only as a C chord, but as a C chord form that we can put anywhere on the neck with a barre. We're going to talk about barring later, but for example what I mean is if you were to slide this whole chord form up two frets. One, two and barre the second fret you'd be playing this C chord for, but you're not playing the C chord anymore. It's a little confusing. In the next segment I'm going to talk to you about how to play your A chord without your index finger and I'll see you then.
