Draining Brake Fluid for Changing Brake Pads
Hi! This is Jon from Expertvillage.com. In this clip, we will be discussing step 2 in replacing disc brake pads, which is to check and remove brake fluid from the master cylinder. The first thing that you’ll need to do is pull your hood release button, and next open the hood. Next, you need to locate your master cylinder and remove the cap. Inside of it you are going to have to remove some of the brake fluid, a turkey baster works great for this, and discard that brake fluid into a container. The reason we do this is, that when we depress the caliper piston, as I’ll show you later, it will fill the master cylinder back up with brake fluid and if it’s already too full then it may overflow into your engine. Then replace the cap back onto the master cylinder.
