Eliminating the Inner Voice in Vocal Training

JAMES MENY: Another thing. The sound that I'm talking about inside your head is much further back inside your head and much tinier than you ever imagined. The people who take lessons in mix voice or speech level singing that continue to take their training usually are working on getting that small sound to be even smaller and tinier week after week or month after month or year after year in their training, because it goes further and further back as you continue your training. It doesn't mean the end result sound, the sound that the audience hears, changes. It just means that your sound in your head changes. And it becomes easier, less baggage to carry on. Again, less baggage means what? Less damage in the long run.
