Formatting a Computer
Hi! You are watching Expert Village. I'm David Justin, TV Wire. We've been a computer consulting business since 1988. On the low end, we help people plug in a license into the computer. On the high end, we do massive formatting to hotels. Today we are going to teach you how to format a hard drive. What we are going to talk about right now is formatting a hard drive. Once you format the hard drive, you will be wiping out everything on the operating system. It will almost be like a brand new computer. Before you do this, make sure that you've backed up everything. Make sure that you've saved everything. Make sure that you have the original drivers. The audio driver, the video driver, any of the drivers that came with the computer. Formatting the hard drive obviously, you will need a computer to do so. But the hard drive inside the computer holds the operating system but to do so, you will either need a Windows disk. This is a Windows XP, Home Edition surface pack 2 disk or they have the reinstalled disk where you just pop it in and follow the prompts. When you buy a lap top, sometimes it does come with a Windows XP Disk. Sometimes it doesn't because they are trying to cut costs. Sometimes you have to purchase one but most of the time it does come with the disk to do re-installing but if not, you can also pick one up at a local computer shop.
