Hi! I am Charlie McCanna, and on behalf of Expert Village.com, I would like to talk to you a little bit about retriever training. As we have talked about before, you always have to keep fun into the game, you have to keep the dog interested, especially with puppies. When you have your short training sessions, 5-10 minutes, always throw in a little play at the end of it. I like to call them happy bumpers. You will see the difference when the dog knows that they are fixing to have happy bumpers; as you can tell she already is excited. And I simply like to say, “hey you want to play.” As you can see she is excited, and now it’s playtime. We have done our work, its time to have fun. You can also use what we call a “cong,” which will go even farther… you want to play… And you can really throw a cong a long way, and it bounces like crazy, and the dog thinks it is a blast, as you can see. There is no lack of the love of retrieving in Heidi as you can tell. And I also brought along a nylabone frisbee that I got at Petsmart, and you can get them online as well. And if I can throw it right, she might be able to catch it, but regardless she enjoys fetching it… You want to play, hey… hey… hey… and amazingly enough she actually caught it this time, but regardless she would have picked it up off the ground, and she loves this Frisbee. Keep playing the game, your dog will enjoy it and so will you. Thank you.
