Choose Flowers that Live Long

Hi! I'm Lori for expertvillage.com, and today we're at Archibald Flowers and we're going to talk about how to purchase flowers. I think a lot of time it's longevity. A lot times customers when they're looking in a gift for someone, they want something that's going to last a little longer than maybe fresh flowers or a fresh arrangement. A lot of times they'll choose live plants. That way if they do have some sort of flowering plant in them or they have a few fresh flowers added to them, then after those flowers are gone they still have the plants to enjoy in their home. Some of the flowers that have good longevity or longer lasting types of flowers. One of them is carnations, which carnations kind of have a bad rap with them because there are a lot of people that say I don't want carnations or I don't like carnations. We get carnations the same way we get roses. We get them from other countries. A lot of times when we get them they will last 2-3 weeks. That is really a great flower if you're just doing something. We try to do them just carnations in a vase or carnations with other flowers, so that way when some of the flowers that don't have as long of a shelf life, they'll still have a few flowers left that they can put in another vase.
