Using the Media Tab in iMovie

Hey everybody, my name is Matt and I am speaking to you on behalf of Expert Village. An easier way of importing media sometimes is if you go over to the media tap down here in the bottom right and click there, it's going to take you to a screen that looks like this. And you'll notice that there's a directory up here and iMovie comes with some built-in sound effects, you can see up here at the top, I've got some standard sound effects. It says "Skywalker" sound effects and it also has iLife sound effects. There's a lot of different types of effects here that you can listen to. If you come down you can preview them and by selecting one and clicking the play button here, there's a "forest evening", it's an AIFF file. Also, if you know how to use Garage Band, you can directly import Garage Band songs. I'm going to open that up and come down to "Garage Band Demo Songs" and there's some Garage Band songs...songs that come with Garage Band which is another program that comes standard with a Mac. You can use some of these demo songs in your movies if you so choose. All you have to do is drag and drop and as you can see, it adds it to my movie. And it also says iTunes here. If you have MP3's in your iTunes library you can just drag and drop them there as well. Another way of getting audio into iMovie is you'll see it says "microphone" over here and it has a record button there to the right. If you play hit where you want to start recording and click the record button. Right now it's recording my voice and when I uncheck the record button, you'll notice the wave form; it just recorded my voice down here. I'm going to go ahead and play that back. "...Right now it's recording..." As you can see that's another way to get audio into iMovie.
