How to Do Cello Hammer On's & Pull Off's

FRANCIS JOSEPH SANTORI: Hammer-on note. Basically it's striking a note [PLAYS HAMMER-ONS] like hammer while in one bow position so instead of going [PLAYS NOTES WITH ALTERNATE BOWING] you're going [PLAYS HAMMER-ONS and PULL-OFF] which is a pull-off [PLAYS HAMMER-ONS and PULL-OFFS]. And the pull-off would be what I just played at the end there [PLAYS HAMMER-ONS and PULL-OFFS]. So the bow the--the string is being bowed [PLAYS NOTES] when you're actually attacking a note that's called a hammer-on. A pull-off would be [PLAYS PULL-OFF] the note is plucked [PLAYS HAMMER-ONS AND PULL-OFFS]. Hammer-ons and pull-offs.
