How to Practice Cello Vibrato
FRANCIS JOSEPH SANTORI: So a way to practice is to set a metronome. Could you give me a metronome for a moment? MAN: Sure. FRANCIS JOSEPH SANTORI: Nice and slow. Right. Slower. Practice different speeds like half-time, whole-time. You could even do like [PLAYS NOTES WITH VIBRATO] being sure that you're rolling and not sliding like that. It's keeping the finger anchored in a spot and there's rolling around the pad in each one of your fingers. Using the metronome you can really learn to time it and give it a genuine timed effect.
