How to Tune a Cello
FRANCIS JOSEPH SANTORI: And now I'm going to discuss the tuning of the instrument. After we get our end pin set to the desired length and we get the instrument in playing position, I tend to start with the G string. That's your G. C, G, D, A. This is already in tune for the most part, but that sounds like a great G to me. Now, we have, we'll go up to our 7th fret position. You'll find a harmonic here. Then you go to your 12th fret position on the next string, and these two tones should be the same.
