Tips on Cello Parts: Part 2

FRANCIS JOSEPH SANTORI: This is your tailpiece, usually made of ebony. And here, your tailpiece holds the ends of the strings after if crosses the bridge to maintain your tension all the way across the length of the neck. And then this tailpiece extends and wraps around your end pin. Your end pin. This is your tightening screw to open and close it. You bring it out to a different length, depending on your size and how you sit. You tighten it up. Close this now. This is our neck and this is our fingerboard. This is the playing surface of the instrument. These are, obviously, your tuners and this is your scroll.
