Elbow Position for Shooting a Basketball

Now for the E in beef. The first E. That stands for elbow and very important when you are shooting is to keep our elbow in. A lot of times even in the NBA some college players, you know a small percentage of them are going to be shooting with their elbow more out in a side ways position. Pretend like somebody is out there pushing on your arm to keep it, to keep your arm in, keep your elbow under the ball. Directly lined up with the ball, keep your wrist cocked and on your fingertips. So you are keeping your elbow in. E for elbow and what you could do and we have had some of players do is stand next to a wall. One of the blocked walls in your school or your gym and when you are there, put your arm against in so you can not move your arm out. Without the ball you can just practice up and down flicking your wrist having your fingertips extended practicing that practicing that shoot. So we are keeping our elbow in, position under the ball, we got our balance position, our knees bent, elbows under the ball, wrist cocked back and the ball on our fingertips. You should be able to see a little bit of a gap there between my palm and the ball. So you would know it is on my fingertips, so that is the bases of our good shooting potion.
