How to Play Funk Bass Scales in F Major

RYAN LARSON: Now, we're going to show you some basic funk, and what you do is really just move around that scale and you can do it kinda awkwardly or your own rhythmic pattern. But the key is put some rhythm behind it and just hit notes in that scale that are cool. Notice how I use that space. That's so that you can hear the drums in between the bass. And with funk, it's really the space you use in between the notes that gives it that oomph. So don't always worry about playing all the time but when you play, you want that bass bumping.
