How to Play F Major Scale in Tabs on Bass

RYAN LARSON: Now, we're going to go through and show you how it's written out in tab. And I'm sure if you're going on the Internet and looking at bass lines, you're going to see tab everywhere. So we have our basic tab outline right here. You'll notice we have four strings. There's your top string going down: 2, 3, 4. And remember, we started right on our 4th string right here on the 1st fret, 1st fret, 3rd fret, open, 1st, 3rd, open, 2nd, 3rd and there's our octave. And if you noticed, we have another 0-2-3 for the top. And we're going to start right here on the 3rd fret and walk down. So we have 1-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. So that's the tab written out. If we go through and count, we have 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 and then we get to 1 again and we have 1, 2, 3 and 4. So we have our top four notes of the scale written out on the top string as well. And these are all just first position on the bass written in tab.
