Playing Basic Scale Pattern in F Major on Bass

RYAN LARSON: Now, we're going to go through and visually show you the scale on the bass. So if we zoom in on my fingers, we're going to have 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1. So if we go through and look at the actual frets, you have your lowest string, 1st fret, 3rd fret, open, 1st, 3rd, open, 2nd, 3rd and then we can keep going. So you have this basic pattern where you go between basically the 1 and the 3rd, then you have your open. And just remember when you get to the 3rd string, it goes to 2-3-2nd fret-3rd fret. And again, we're going to number these notes. We have 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. And these numbers are very important because when we go through and analyze the instrument and see how to approach different chords we get out of F, you'll see that it's just related to different numbers within the scale. So we'll go through and show you all that on the bass.
