Brain Twister Mount Yo-Yo Tricks

ANDRE BOULAY: So, the next trick we're going to work on is called a brain twister off string mount. It's not actually a trick. It's just a mount really. It's a way to get--end to doing tricks. What you're actually doing with it is you're throwing the yoyo down which seems really weird 'cause you're like; "Well, it's just going to come right off the string." What you actually have to do is you're throwing it down and as it's coming down; you pinch the string and pull your throw hand underneath the yoyo. So, let me show you what it looks like. You throw and you'll notice how my hand quickly just came right underneath the yoyo. You're going to need to watch this a few times to get the feel for it. So, one more time, I start from here, I throw down. As it's coming down, I bring my hand right underneath it and it lands actually on the string, and it's actually spinning backwards. So, you actually need to bind the opposite way to get back to your hand. Let me break it down a real quick and show you what's happening. As the yoyo's coming down, as I throw it, I'm pinching here and I'm quickly bringing my throw hand which is this hand here, right underneath the yoyo. So, as the yoyo falls, just before it falls, it hits on to that string and I land the yoyo like so. So, one more time, you throw, yoyo's in your hand like that. It comes off. You grab the string over here and pinch and bring your hand underneath it real quick. So, you pinch with your non-throw hand, bring--come down under with your throw hand. That's a brain twister off string mount. Practice that and you'll be good to go.
