An Advanced Bass Guitar in F

RYAN LARSON: So, today we're going to walk through our F major scale. And we're going to really get that under our fingers, and we're going to go through and show you the tab for the scale so you can really get it under your fingers as well. And then, we're going to explore a couple of different scales we can get out of that, and then we're going to go through and apply the scales to analyzing music. We're going to show you how to go through and find the different bass notes as I refer to the scales, so you can go through and figure out what notes to play on or what fret to start on just by going through and analyzing a piece. And it looks like you have a lot of chord changes now but you're going to see how a lot of it is very repetitive and it's all really hints back to the same key. So, what we're doing is we're really taking a logical approach to looking at the piece. So, when you go through and read books and fake books on your own time, you can go through and get an idea of how to approach each tune no matter what key it's in, and you can go through and analyze it and find the notes on your bass and then start approaching using your different scale patterns that we're going to give you to do some walking bass and some Latin jazz.
