How to Install the Dust Shield

DOUG JENKINS: Hi, I'm Doug. I work with 20 great guys in St. Louis at Doug Jenkins Custom Hot Rods and we're going to do some work for you today on Expert Village. Now he's putting a nut on the back side of that long bolt that goes through the dust shield, the bracket, the spindle, and into that steering arm. Two of the bolts that go through here are through bolts. They have Nylok nuts that go with them, the one at the top is just a regular bolt and as you can see through there, he'll drive that in real tight and then the dust backing plate has two little ears on it and he'll use a screwdriver and a hammer to bend those ears over and those lock the bolts in place. This is--the whole spindle assembly and brake assembly is kind of important to the safety and control of your car, so you take care for precautions to make sure everything stays together.
