RYAN LARSON: So, today we're going to take a look through our D major scale, which starts here on this open string right here, second string down, open string [PLAYS D MAJOR SCALE], and we're going to number the scale 1 through 7, 1-2-3-4-5-6-7, and we'll go through it and really show you the scale a couple of different ways so you really can get it under your fingers. But, again, it's just 1 through 7: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-1. And we'll go through and give you all these different scale degrees, and we're going to look through and take a look at all the different chords that come out of it, right? There are seven notes: D, E, F sharp, G, A, B, C sharp, D. We'll go through it and see show to utilize these different roots, and how we can walk through the same scale pattern and get all these different chords just out of this one major scale. So we're going to go through and really expand your bag of tricks so you can start reading through some real book tunes on your own spare time.
