Walking Through Section A Measures to Play a G Major Scale

RYAN LARSON: So now we're going to take a nice easy walk through the A section of "Mack the Knife" and we started with our 1 chord for two measures and then we have our 2 chord and our 5 chord, four measures each. And I'm going to go through and show you how to walk that and then we're going to walk our second section which is the exact opposite, starts with a 2 chord, 5 chord, and then goes to 1 chord for two measures and we have this quick little B at the end which we'll discuss too. But I'm going to start to showing you how to walk it. So we start right here on the 1, 1 to 1 and what I have to do is get eight beats within the scale before I land on the 2 which is this open string right here. So I'm going to show you how I'm going to lead into it--right. So 1, 2, 5, 2, 5, 1. So again we just walk 1 for eight measures or eight beats and I had to get to 2 on the next downbeat so I just led into it 1, 2 5, 2, 5, 1, 3 and then it's going to lead into the 6. Well, that's just a simple run through and I just really took these bass notes that are the bass roots on the downbeat and I just played inside the scale and really tried to voice lead into the next chord that I was going into and I was just moving around the scale.
