Measure 2 in a Jazz Bass D Flat Scale

RYAN LARSON: Now, on our second measure, we have our 4-7 chord which is this G flat 7. So if we count up, all right, we have D flat 7 for four beats and then G flat 7, and we go back to the D flat too. So we got 1-2-3-4, so there's our G flat, right? D-E-F-G, D flat 7. So we have to walk four measures starting here and then we have to land on the 1 again. So we're just going to keep walking back from 4 to 1, just to get it under our fingers. So we've got: 4-1-4-1-4-1-4-1. And notice how I'm putting some chromatic notes in there, but it doesn't matter. As long as you start here and end here, it's gold. So you gotta really find the roots: 4-1-4-1-4-1-4. So go through and really get that under your fingers, just walking from 4 to 1 and it will really help you to memorize that D flat major scale as well.
